The Digital Media Program in the School of Literature, Communication & Culture Presents
Mary Flanagan, Director, Tiltfactor, Hunter College, New York
January 23, 6:00pm, Skiles 002 on the Georgia Tch Campus
Flanagan was a visiting artist at LCC in 2007 and will return to present an update on her “Values @ Play” Initiative.
Abstract: “designing games from a values perspective”
Player rewards play a large role in the way values are embedded in games. Using examples from existing games and from the Tiltfactor laboratory, Dr. Flanagan will demonstrate how human values emerge from features or rules of games, as well as other elements which might contribute to a player’s experience. To explore this theme further, a short workshop will ensue to explore how alternate rewards might create different values for games.
